This week is a special little boy’s first birthday! It’s hard for me to believe, but Baby H is turning 1! I have been able to do his newborn, 3, 6 & 9 month photos and his wonderful mom was kind enough to have me do his one year photos a few weeks early so we could squeeze it in before I left Dayton. I had a blast with this session and the weather held out just long enough that we could do the photos outside. J & R, I hope you love the photos of your little man – it has been a joy getting to know your family and I hope the AF has us cross paths again!

April 15, 2010Catching up | Dayton Newborn Photographer
April 13, 2010Unfortunately I got a little behind on editing the last few sessions I did in Dayton, however the good news is I am now getting all caught up so over the next couple of days you’ll see a few more client previews!
The first is another beautiful baby girl. I was asked if it was possible for me to fit in Miss S’s newborn photos before we moved and how could I saw no to the opportunity to meet another sweet 5 day old!! We luckily were able to squeeze in an hour the day before all of my photography items were packed and I got to spend time with Miss S who spent most of the time wide awake showing off her gorgeous eyes!
It’s a Small World | Dayton Baby Photography
March 27, 2010If I have now gotten the Small World song stuck in your head, I apologize for that!
My point for the title is just to say that the Air Force really is a small world and inevitably we will cross paths with people from our AF past as we move from base to base. A few months ago I received an email from Baby E’s mom asking if I would do a photo session for him while they were in town – you see, they are not stationed here in Dayton (yet), but were going to be in town to house hunt for when they move here in the fall. I met Baby E’s mom via the internet several years ago as both of our husbands were going through training to commission as Air Force Officers. I am so glad they called me and gave me a chance to meet little E – he is a charmer and was all smiles for me! I hope we are able to cross paths again in the AF World!
Meet Baby E | Dayton Newborn Photography
March 25, 2010After discussing this shoot for weeks with the expectant mom, I finally got to meet Baby E last week when he was 6 days old! He was an absolute superstar for his first photo shoot – slept virtually the entire time and seemed to have no issue with me constantly moving him around. N & N, enjoy your sneak peek – it was a joy to photograph your adorable son!

January 13, 2010A Luminary Walk | Dayton Nature Photographer
December 12, 2009Holidays are a time for traditions. Unfortunately this year it hasn’t been feeling much like Christmas because we just haven’t found time for any of the typical traditions – tree, lights, baking, parties, family, etc. I think we might be one of the only homes without lights and a tree up at this point!
I have managed one tradition so far though. When I was growing up, my family would always take time after Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve to drive around our neighbor and look at the luminaries that lined the streets. There’s something about the quiet of a winter’s night combined with the glow of candlelight that makes it feel like Christmas.
The Metropark system in Dayton holds Luminary Walks every year at a few of the parks. Volunteers line the paths with hundreds (probably thousands really) of candles and then light all of them at dusk. I decided to go to Cox Arboretum on Friday night and although it was FREEZING cold (by the end of 1.5 hrs, I couldn’t operate my tripod – not to mention my fingers nearly froze to the tripod once or twice!!) it’s an amazing sight to see. If you’re ever in Dayton in December, you should check it out – but in case you don’t make it, here are some photos of the event!
And don’t let the cold keep you away in future years – there are wonderful volunteers who keep the fireplace going and plenty of hot chocolate & s’mores to warm up with!
